  • James Fricton, DDS, MS, had post-doctoral training in pain at UCLA and has devoted his career to patient care and research in temporomandibular and orofacial pain disorders. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and post-graduate studies in Computer Science from the University of Iowa.
  • Dr. Fricton also completed a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology at UCLA School of Dentistry and an Anesthesiology and Pain Management Residency at UCLA Medical Center. After his research and clinical training at UCLA, he joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota.
  • Dr. Fricton also serves as Professor in the Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, and Public Health at the University of Minnesota and Senior Researcher with Health Partners Institute for Education and Research.
  • He  has published and lectured extensively and is the author of the book,  "TMJ and Craniofacial Pain: Diagnosis and Management, Myofascial Pain and Fibromyalgia", and "Advances in Orofacial Pain and TMJ Disorders".
  • Dr. Fricton has been elected to the governing boards of the American Pain Society, the American Board of Orofacial Pain, and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain.
  • Dr. Fricton is the current president of the IMS; International MyoPain Society

Kim Dupree Jones RN, FNP, PhD

Kim Dupree Jones is a Professor in the Schools of Nursing at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. Her area of expertise is exercise physiology and neuroendocrinology in fibromyalgia. She was the principal investigator on over two million dollars of research funding in fibromyalgia from the National Institutes of Health. She is also a principal investigator or co-investigator on 12 other fibromyalgia research studies with the Oregon Fibromyalgia Research and Treatment Team. She has 92 publications and is a frequently invited speaker for patients, clinicians and researchers investigating fibromyalgia. She also maintains a weekly clinical practice at Oregon Health & Science University in which she evaluates and treats people with fibromyalgia.

Michael comes to this conference from Colorado, where he works as a Massage Therapist as part of a successful PT clinical team. Michael's Mother suffers from CRPS, (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome), and has had it since he was 7.  Quickly spreading throughout her whole body, she has been in chronic pain for over 27 years.  This was the catalyst for his drive to become an LMT.

Special Credentials: Nationally Board Certified Massage Therapist with NCBMT. Certified in medical massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue and myofascial work, as well as intraoral work with the jaw. He has done work with active military and vets who suffer from PTSD at a war memorial hospital.

Dr  Turchininov also known as “Dr Ross”,  graduated from Odessa Medical Institute, named N.I. Pirogov, in 1983. After graduation from medical school he was accepted in the special residency program in the Kiev Institute of Orthopedics which allowed him to start their PhD work at the same time while finishing his residency.  Kiev Institute of Orthopedics is the largest orthopedic and rehabilitation hospital in the Ukraine, and a world known research facility. The most difficult clinical cases from the entire country are sent there and Dr Ross completed the program in 1985.

Dr Ross has published more than 50 articles in medical journals, and has written three books which were very well received by  the massage, physical therapy, chiropractic and medical communities. Dr Ross presented at the Annual Meeting of American Academy of Pain Management in 2007.

  Rae Marie Gleason 
  • became the IMS Executive Director in January, 2015.
  • Rae began her career in Salem, Oregon in 1992 at about the same time as the creation of the IMS. She worked with Salem area businessman Jack Scott to create the National Fibromyalgia Research Association. Jack served on the IMS Board of Directors until this past year.
  • Rae was the NFRA Executive Director for 14 years before holding the same position for the National Fibromyalgia Association. Currently, she is also the Medical Education and Research Director for the National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association.
  • Rae was mentored by IMS founders, Dr. Jon and Barbara Russell and several of the first board members including Dr. Robert Benne . Through the years Rae helped distribute the Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain and IMS World Congress information at national medical meetings from the NFRA exhibit booth.
  • She attended and exhibited at several US IMS World Congresses, and attended the one in Silvi Marina, Italy
